PASA Swimming Pool Technical Operator Course
The PASA Swimming Pool Technical Operator Course has been designed in line with the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group’s syllabus for a Swimming Pool Technical Operator. This is a distance learning course which can be studied at home or work at your own pace. The comprehensive content of the course with give the learner an in depth knowledge on how swimming pools and spas work and how to manage them.
At the end of each lesson there is a multiple choice test to test your understanding and an assignment which must be uploaded to complete the course for certification.
PASA Water Testing Course
A course aimed at customers who wish to learn more about their swimming pool, spa or hot tub water testing with commercial equipment. The course is an online video that will teach you about the mechanical process of the water testing, the importance of water testing and the correct parameters as per the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Guide (PWTAG) Code of Practice.
The learner will understand what to test for, the parameters as per the PWTAG Code of Practice and record keeping. Tests include Chlorine, Bromine, pH, Cyanuric Acid, TDS, Total Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness, Sulphates, Chlorides and Turbidity.
PASA Domestic Swimming Pool and Spa Course
A course aimed at domestic customers who wish to learn more about their swimming pool, spa or hot tub. The course is an online video that will teach you about the mechanical process of the pool plant, the importance of hygiene to ensure good water quality, maintenance of the system and water testing and the correct parameters.
PASA Practical Pool Plant Safety Award
The PASA Practical Pool Plant Safety Award is a hands on one day course delivered on site for already qualified Pool Plant Certificate holders. The course is designed to take small groups of learners of no more than six at a time through practical elements in the plant room. Learners will be required to get hand on experience of day to day tasks in the swimming pool plant room. This will include the following elements.
- Cleaning strainer baskets
- Cleaning the in line strainer to the probe housing and adjust flow speed
- Replacing and cleaning probes
- Replacing and cleaning injectors
- Storage and hand dosing rates for swimming pool
- Calculated rates of chemicals for your individual swimming pool
- Handling and filling chemical tanks and much more
All learners attending this course must already hold a regulated, PWATG recognised or CIMSPA endorsed Pool Plant Qualification from an awarding body in the UK and the qualification must be valid. The course also includes a safety audit conducted with the trainer and learners in line with the PWTAG Code of Practice and Swimming Pool Water book.
BSI-13451-3 Swimming pool equipment – Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for inlets and outlets
Health and safety legislation places a duty on pool operators to protect those using their pools. This includes the risk of entrapment, which may lead to drowning. Therefore, pool operators need to take all reasonably practicable steps to remove any entrapment hazards.
The PASA BSI-13451-3 Swimming pool equipment – Additional specific safety requirements and test methods for inlets and outlets course is designed as an awareness of the dangers of inlets and outlets.
